MESA, Ariz. - A man who was allegedly found by police naked after baptizing himself in the fountain of a Mesa church has been arrested.According to court documents, officers on April 15 were called to the One Life Church, located near Gilbert Road and University Drive, after someone encountered a naked man in the baptism fountain. The man was told to leave the church, but instead, he grabbed a blanket and continued walking on the property.Officers found the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jeremiah Sykes, who said he was baptizing himself naked in the fountain.Sykes was arrested.After he was taken to a holding facility to be booked into jail, Sykes allegedly threw a sock at a detention officer and punched him in the head.

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - There was a call for peace Thursday night after a 16-year-old was murdered, the latest in a string of shootings of children and teens in Philadelphia’s ongoing gun violence.People are angry and heartbroken and just want it to stop.Southwest Philadelphia area clergy hit the streets to pray for peace. Shouting directly at a group of young men standing on a Southwest Philadelphia corner, the group of 12th District Philadelphia Police Chaplains and church pastors are simply fed up with the violence."I’m speaking to everybody because we are just tired of it.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - A 12-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man have been hospitalized after someone shot them in South Philadelphia.Officials say the shooting happened Thursday night, about 8:30, on the 2300 block of Tasker Street.17th District officers, responding to the call, found the boy with a gunshot wound to the butt.MORE HEADLINES:Police rushed him to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was placed in stable condition.The 30-year-old man sustained two gunshots to his leg. Police took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was also listed in stable condition.Police are actively investigating what prompted the shooting.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Travelers have plenty of new destination options when flying out of Wilmington International Airport in Delaware.Avelo Airlines announced nine new non-stop routes to destinations including Charleston, South Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee and spring break favorite Daytona Beach, Florida, all for inexpensive rates.The airline says the fares start at just $29.00.The airline went on to say a second Boeing 737 made the additional destinations possible, while adding new jobs in the area.The airline does say additional fees for carry-on and checked bags, assigned seats and other services may apply.The new non-stop routes begin in the summer.

TELFORD, Pa. - April is Autism Awareness Month, and a local musician is using his performances to fundraise in different ways, including for sensory toys and devices at his five-year-old daughter’s school."Their way of thinking is normal to them, it just looks different to us," says Ray Coleman, an Irish musician and father to Céilí, who was diagnosed with autism at age two."She wasn’t answering her name when we would say her name, not much eye contact, wasn’t playing with toys properly just wasn’t meeting her milestones," says Jaclyn Coleman, Céilí’s mom.Currently, Céilí is non-verbal, but early intervention, most recently at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, is teaching her other ways to voice her wants and needs.She started with using pictures, and is now moving to an AAC device, which looks like an iPad. Through apps, Céilí can communicate about almost anything."What she wants to play with, what she wants to eat , it’s allowing her to identify colors that she may not be able to identify," says Ali Melman, Céilí’s Early Intervention Autistic Support Teacher at MCIU.Céilí’s parents say she started to use the device at home and it’s a game changer."We could tell that she wasn’t feeling good, and she started hitting ‘My belly hurts, my belly hurts,’ on her iPad," says Jaclyn.However, these devices are not readily available.The Coleman’s say they quickly learned that they are not only expensive, but Céilí’s took nine months to come in.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - A 15-year-old boy was shot at Dendy Rec Center in North Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon. He was taken by ambulance to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children where he is listed as stable.

LOS ANGELES - A woman in a stolen senior transportation van with an elderly man inside was taken into custody Thursday morning after leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit across the San Fernando Valley.The suspect was seen driving erratically in a Golden Age Senior Daycare van at a high rate of speed across Van Nuys. The senior center is located in Tarzana.SkyFOX images from the scene showed the passenger side door open throughout the pursuit.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Police homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left a man dead. According to authorities, the shooting took place on Wednesday at 10:40 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shooting in Philadelphia that left a man critically injured, authorities say. According to police, the shooting occurred on Wednesday night, just before midnight, on the 4000 block of Wallace Street in the Powelton section of the city. Officials say a 27-year-old man was shot once in the cheek and once in the neck. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESHe was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was placed in critical condition, authorities say. Officials say the scene was held and no weapon was recovered. 

OAKLAND, Calif. - Major League Baseball's Oakland Athletics on Wednesday announced they have signed a binding agreement to purchase land for a future ballpark in Las Vegas – much to the disappointment of the mayor and others who were promised that the team was "Rooted in Oakland."  The A’s will work with Nevada and Clark County on a public-private partnership to fund the stadium.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department's Shooting Investigation Group are asking for the public's help to identify two suspects wanted in connection with a Center City shooting. Authorities say the shooting occurred on April 4 around 7:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Filbert Street in the Center City section of the city. A 39-year-old off-duty security guard who works at the Fashion District was walking to catch the bus when he realized he was shot in the leg, police say. Authorities say an off-duty security guard at Philadelphia's Fashion District was shot in the leg while walking to a bus stop on Tuesday.

COLLINGDALE, Pa. - A Delaware County mom disappeared without a trace a decade ago. Her community gathered in the hope that after all this time, Melissa Ortiz-Rodriguez’s disappearance will be solved.Her loved ones held a candlelight vigil where she lived 10 years ago in Collingdale. She was last seen April 19, 2013."Melissa and I were very close.

PHILADELPHIA - A man is dead and another is in critical condition after police say their vehicle was peppered with gunfire Tuesday night in Philadelphia's Fairhill neighborhood. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the intersection of 3rd and Ontario streets around 8:30 p.m.

The windshield of the vehicle was removed and left on the owners front lawn, according to police. GPS data last tracked the car roughly 20 miles away in Cinnaminson, New Jersey.

PHILADELPHIA - Police say a 15-year-old boy is in stable condition after he was shot in broad daylight at a North Philadelphia recreation center. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the area of 10th and Jefferson streets around 4 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Police found a 15-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the right side.

CORALVILLE, Iowa - An Iowa State trooper and a car driver escaped serious injury after a truck slammed into them during a traffic stop. The trooper had originally pulled over the car on Highway 218 in Coralville, Iowa, on Tuesday. Dashcam video showed the moment a speeding truck striking the stopped car just as the officer was leaning over and talking to the stopped driver. RELATED: 71-year-old critically punched to the ground over parking spot; Delaware man turns himself inThe Iowa State Patrol called it "a very avoidable crash."This story was reported from Los Angeles.  

NEWARK, Del. - A home invasion turned deadly when a homeowner decided to take matters into his own hands, and fight back against a trio of intruders.Police arrived to find a 25-year-old suspect dead on the second floor of house on Clipper Court Tuesday night.The suspect was shot several times by the homeowner after ransacking his house with another suspect, 20-year-old Nadir Everett, according to authorities.After the suspects threatened the homeowner, and started stealing items, police say the homeowner grabbed his firearm and opened fire.MORE HEADLINES:The 25-year-old suffered fatal injuries, while Everett fled the scene with a third suspect, identified as 24-year-old Malik Dennison.Everett, who also suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was taken into custody with Dennison at a local hospital.The homeowner did suffer a gunshot fired by one of the suspects, police say.

NEWARK, Del. - Delaware State Police say a teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with a violent shooting that sent shoppers running for safety at the Christiana Mall earlier this month. Authorities say the incident occurred on April 8 at 6:43 p.m. at the food court entrance to the mall. Troopers say an investigation revealed three male suspects began physically assaulting an 18-year-old as he was leaving the food court.

NEWARK, Del. - What began as a simple hunt for a parking spot, ended with an elderly man being sent to the hospital, and another man in police custody.The violent incident unfolded in the parking lot of a medical complex at 700 Prides Crossing in Newark, Delaware, Tuesday morning.Both the 71-year-old and suspect, identified as 39-year-old Dimitri Taylor, tried to pull into the same parking spot, sparking an argument.As the victim tried to find another spot, police say the suspect chased him around the lot punching his window.MORE HEADLINES:Pleading with Taylor to stop, the victim parked his car and called the police.Taylor then punched the 71-year-old causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground, according to authorities.He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.Police say Taylor later turned himself in, and has since been charged with assault.

DADEVILLE, Ala. - Law enforcement officials have arrested two teenagers and charged them with murder for the mass shooting during a Sweet 16 birthday party in eastern Alabama that killed four and injured more than 30 people.Members of the press from all over the country gathered on the steps of the Tallapoosa County Courthouse nearly 84 hours after the shots were fired at the Mahogany Masterpiece dance studio, located just one block away. Investigators say 18-year-old Phil Dowdell, 23-year-old Corbin Holston, 19-year-old Marsiah Collins, and 17-year-old KeKe Smith were killed in the gunfire.

PHILADELPHIA - A man is in critical condition after several shots were fired in a morning shooting on a North Philadelphia street Tuesday.Police responded to the shooting on the 2900 block of North Stillman Street around 8 a.m.The victim, a 43-year-old man, was found shot twice in the neck, once to the back and multiple times in the lower body.MORE HEADLINES:He was transported to a local hospital, and placed in critical condition.No arrests have been made, and no weapons recovered.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - A woman's shopping trip could have ended in a carjacking, but luckily she was able to safely drive away.Police say three teen suspects approached the woman as she sat in her car in the Walmart parking lot on Route 38 Monday night.They opened her door, demanded she get out, and displayed a handgun, according to authorities.She drove away and immediately notified police.MORE HEADLINES:All three suspects were still at the Walmart when officers arrived and took them into custody.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating an incident that began at FDR Park and ended with lane closures on I-76 West. Authorities say police responded to a report of a shooting on Pattison Avenue in the area of FDR Park in the South Philadelphia section of the city just before 3 a.m. Officers who responded to the scene did not find anything initially, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. Small told reporters officers found a scene on the westbound lanes of I-76, where a Ford SUV and Infiniti Sedan were involved in a crash. According to authorities, the Ford had eight bullet holes and a 27-year-old victim in the back seat with a gunshot wound to the neck. Small says the shooting victim, who was unable to move due to the gunshot injury, was transported to Presbyterian Hospital, where he is in critical condition. Police say a 32-year-old woman was the driver of the Ford SUV. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESA 22-year-old man was driving the Infiniti and a gun was found on the vehicle's floorboard, authorities say. Investigators say a preliminary investigation revealed the drivers of both vehicles got into an altercation on the 1900 block of Pattison Avenue. According to Small, that's where crime scene technicians found 19 spent shell casings from the shooting. Officials say a PennDOT driver witnessed the incident and told authorities the two cars then drove at a high rate of speed the wrong way on I-76 West. The two vehicles eventually crashed on I-76 as police responded to the scene, police say. The 22-year-old driver of the Infiniti was taken into custody, according to Small. Lanes on I-76 West were closed for several hours but have since reopened. Police respond to lanes on I-76

WILLIAMSTOWN, N.J. - The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday that a man has been arrested and charged with manslaughter of a 17-year-old Gloucester County boy over the weekend. On Sunday, April 16, officers from the Monroe Township Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Chestnut Street in Williamstown for a report that a man had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who had been shot in the head. Authorities say a suspect, 18-year-old Nasir D.

Philadelphia police are seeking the public's help in locating 22-year-old Jahir Williams-Hill who they say is wanted in connection with a murder on April 11.  PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are searching for a man who they say is wanted in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old woman in North Philadelphia last week. On April 11, officers responded to the 2500 block of North 10th Street for reports of a person with a gun. Responding officers were flagged down by civilian when they say they observed an unresponsive woman, later identified as 22-year-old Zhakira Bailey of the 400 block of Wannamaker Street. MORE HEADLINES Authorities say the woman was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her body. Officers transported her to Temple University where she later died from her injuries. On Tuesday, authorities announced that they are seeking the publics help in identifying 22-year-old Jahir Williams-Hill from the 500 block of Eastwick Terrace in connection with this homicide. Officials say Williams-Hill is wanted for murder, weapons charges, and other related offenses.

Lower Manhattan Tuesday afternoon. There were six workers inside the building on 37 Ann Street at the time of the incident. One of the six was killed and four were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

BENSALEM, Pa. - The former student of a Pennsylvania prep school is accused of using Instagram to make violent threats towards the school building.The Bensalem Police Department on Tuesday said a threat was made against Holy Ghost Prep School that caused a brief shelter-in-place. Authorities believe 30-year-old Christian DeFlorio, a former student at the school, posted the threatening video on Instagram. Police say DeFlorio is currently in Miami, Florida and not a threat to students at this time. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESDeFlorio owns a white 2019 Alfa Romeo with red interior and a Pennsylvania license place of KGE-2435, police said. He is being sought on charges of making Terroristic Threats and related charges.

The report came from a 911 call where a driver said she was being "brake-checked' by a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police say the Jeep stopped in front of the driver, causing them to stop.

LANSDALE, Pa. - Police in Montgomery County are investigating a double shooting that left two people hospitalized late Monday evening. According to the Lansdale Police Department, detectives were dispatched to the 400 block of Walnut Street for a report of a shooting shortly before 11:30 p.m. Authorities say one person was driven to and another was airlifted to local hospitals. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe condition of both victims is unknown at this time. Police say there is no threat to the public. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - A man was hospitalized after authorities say his gun accidentally went off during a struggle with police Monday afternoon in Philadelphia's East Germantown neighborhood. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to 5700 block of North 21st Street around 4 p.m. for reports of a person with a gun, according to police. Responding officers were flagged down by a man armed with a gun who police say had fatally shot a dog. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESWhen an officer attempted to disarm the man, investigators say a struggle ensued and the man's gun fired and struck him in the leg. The man was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital and placed in stable condition, police said. Investigator have not specified who fired the gun during the struggle.

Philadelphia police say a man is dead after he was shot in the head in Olney Monday.

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - Residents in Burlington County are calling on police to enforce stricter distracted driving laws after they say drivers regularly speed through a heavily-trafficked intersection in their town, putting pedestrians' safety at risk. Concerned residents in the Larchmount section of Mount Laurel say drivers need to slow down and stop for pedestrians in the crosswalks. The high demand for police to get involved came after several residents complained that they were almost struck at the same crosswalk."If they don't stop, they could kill someone," said Wendy Walters, a resident in Mount Laurel.

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - A 14-year-old boy was found behind the wheel of a pickup truck that police say caused five cars to crash, sending six people to the hospital over the weekend.Several cars were stopped at Coastal Highway and Slaughter Beach Road for flashing red lights when the truck crashed into the last car in the line.The collision caused a chain reaction, propelling each car forward, until all five were crashed on the highway.Police say a 14-year-old boy was driving the truck, and that alcohol was detected on his breath. Beer bottles were also find outside the truck.MORE HEADLINES:Two passengers, a 14-year-old boy and 16-year-old boy, were also inside the truck and taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.Seven other people, ranging in age from 23 to 65, were in the other crashed cars.

police department in New Mexico released body camera footage that shows officers fatally shooting a homeowner after they responded to the wrong home. "All of us – the men and women of the Farmington Police Department – recognize the severity of this incident," Farmington Police Department Chief Steve Hebbe said in a statement posted to the department’s Facebook page."We will do everything we can to ensure a fuller understanding of what took place," the statement added. "I believe that the footage will help to provide a greater understanding of what transpired." Officers with the department were called to the neighborhood on April 5 at about 11:30 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - A passenger's ride-share trip took a violent turn when police say they became the victim of a group of juveniles earlier this month.The juveniles surrounded the vehicle as it stopped at a traffic light at 2nd and Chestnut streets in Old City, according to authorities.Police say two of them reached in to try and steal the passenger's phone, then hit them in the face as the driver pulled away.MORE HEADLINES:It is unclear if the phone was stolen, or if the victim sustained any injuries.Surveillance footage captured the suspects on a SEPTA subway platform after the incident.Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

PHILADELPHIA - A barricade situation sparked a nearby elementary school to be placed on lockdown and the evacuation of some residents in Philadelphia's Kensington section Monday morning.Police say a man armed with a firearm led officers on a foot pursuit near the 3400 block of G Street around 7:30 a.m.He ran into a nearby home, prompting police to declare a barricade and evacuate residents from the first floor.MORE HEADLINES:Gloria Casarez Elementary School was also briefly placed on lockdown, which has since been lifted.A SWAT team eventually gained access, and cleared the home with negative results, according to authorities.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating the death of a man who was shot in East Germantown on Friday evening. According to authorities, officers from the 19th District responded to the 6100 block of Ardleigh Street for a report of a shooting shortly before 9 p.m. Officials say 24-year-old Donte Moore, of East Germantown, was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and lower back. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESFire department medics pronounced Moore dead on scene at 9:05 p.m., according to authorities. Police say 23-year-old Zaire Ayers of West Philadelphia was arrested in connection with the shooting. Ayers has been charged with murder and related charges, officials say.

Ottawa police say two people have been charged with mischief after a woman threw paint at the prime minister’s office and chained herself to the building Saturday.Police haven’t confirmed the identities of the people arrested, but a climate change advocacy group has identified the woman as the same person who walked on the Juno Awards stage while topless.On2Ottawa has posted photos and video to its Twitter account of the woman tossing a bucket of what appears to be pink paint on the entranceway, then posing topless for a photo next to a sign saying, “Demand climate action now!”Casey Hatherly, who goes by the name Ever, came to national attention last month when she hopped on the Junos stage while Avril Lavigne was introducing a performance.She was topless and messages written on her upper body included “land back” and “save the Greenbelt,” referring to Ontario’s decision last year to open a protected area of land for housing.Ottawa police say they arrested and charged both the woman involved in Saturday’s incident as well as a man filming it.
