PHILADELPHIA - As investigators work to determine what sparked a Kensington rowhome fire that killed a father and his three children last weekend, Philadelphia is battling a backlog of unfulfilled smoke alarm requests.Yamalier, 5, Yadriel, 9, and 12-year-old Alexangel Arroyo-Santana perished in a rowhome fire early Sunday morning on the 3200 block of Hartville Street in Kensington. Neighbors say their father, Alexis, also died in the blaze after he told his wife to jump out a window to safety while he went further into the home to save the children. "He had a chance to jump out, but he ended up telling his wife to jump out of the window. He’ll get the children, so he died a hero," a neighbor who asked to remain anonymous said.Fire investigators have not pinpointed what started the fire, but they said no smoke alarms were sounding when firefighters arrived. The School District of Philadelphia identified three children killed in a rowhome fire as Yamalier, 5, Yadriel, 9, and 12-year-old Alexangel.

LAKE WALES, Fla. - A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged after allegedly shooting and killing his mother in their Polk County home.Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Seth Settle shot and killed his mother Thursday after she told him to stop smoking inside his room in their Lake Wales home.During a press conference Friday, Judd said – by all accounts – the 52-year-old victim was "the most wonderful mom in the world" and the family was regarded as nice and hard-working.Judd said the victim's husband, Settle's father, left for work like normal Thursday morning. NORRISTOWN, Pa. - Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is back behind bars after she allegedly violated her probation when she was charged with driving under the influence last month. Kane surrendered to authorities in Montgomery County on Friday, a day after a judge had issued a bench warrant for her arrest. Last month, Scranton police were called to the scene of a two-car crash and said Kane was found behind the wheel of an Audi. Tom Wolf announced Friday that the state is ready to implement new ghost guns regulations.The new regulations will require a background check for partially manufactured frames and receivers at point of sale.Dealers and gunsmiths will also be required to serialize and inventory any unregistered firearms that come into their business.Wolf said ghost guns are an "untraceable threat to society" that are being seized and recovered from crime scenes at an alarming rate."The numbers don’t lie," he said.

COVID-19 as the province logged 26 new deaths linked to the disease Friday.Pandemic-related hospitalizations came to a total of 2,290, a net decrease of 36. This comes after 182 admissions and 218 discharges in the last day.There were 81 people in intensive care units.

PHILADELPHIA - A ride-share driver was on the job when police say he was shot in the back Thursday night.The shooting occurred at Cobbs Creek and Delancey streets in West Philadelphia around 9:58 p.m.The 50-year-old driver was shot in the back and arm by a man he was transporting, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA - The man charged with sexually assaulting a woman on a SEPTA train on Sunday is also facing charges in two other incidents, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office confirmed Friday morning. Quintez Adams, 28, was taken into custody earlier this week after authorities say he sexually assaulted a woman on SEPTA’s Broad Street Line Sunday afternoon between Erie and Girard stations.  Officials say Adams has also been charged in two indecent exposure incidents that occurred over the last two months.

KING OF PRUSSIA - The search is on for suspects after a shooting left a man injured and a children's hospital on edge Wednesday night.Police were called to the parking garage of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in King of Prussia for reports of shots fired around 9:39 p.m.The hospital was placed on lockdown when officers arrived at the scene. However, it was later discovered shots were actually fired in the parking garage of the Smith Valley Forge apartment complex, which is directly adjacent to CHOP.Police say at least two suspects fired at each as they found multiple shell casing, bullet fragments and blood at the scene. A silver Honda and white Mazda were reportedly seen leaving the parking garage immediately after the shooting.
