Vijitha Herath demands to publicize China-Sri Lanka FTA

COLOMBO (News 1st) – NPP Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath requested the Government to immediately submit a draft of the trade agreement between the Governments of China and Sri Lanka.Speaking at the Parliament on Tuesday (4), Herath pointed out that the people still do not know the contents of the trade agreement, and in addition, Parliamentarians deserve the right to remain aware of the said FTA.If the agreement is signed without knowing its contents, manufacturers could face much difficulty in manufacturing and exporting their contents.Citing a statement made by Foreign Minister Ali Sabry at New York with regard to hastening the agreement, the NPP MP demanded whether it is being done so for the purpose of loan restructuring.

‘We will support no-confidence motion, and even an impeachment’ – Vijitha

COLOMBO (News 1st); JVP Member of Parliament Vijitha Herath announced that his faction will support the Motion of No-Confidence against the government, and would also move for the Impeachment of the President if he continues to refuse to resign.“Flaws in political leadership have to this crisis,” he told the Parliament, adding that seeking a bailout from the IMF, rather than looking at a debt restructuring process, would further put Sri Lanka in turmoil.‘The people want a leadership change. If the government continues to act in an arbitrary manner, we will stand with the motion of no-confidence, and take necessary measures as per the provisions of the constitution,” he said while noting that the JVP led-NPP will also move for an Impeachment Motion against the President.
