Birds' back-up Minshew helps Eagles soar over Jets, 33-18

(Photo by Steven Ryan/Getty Images) MEADOWLANDS, N.J. - After a week of speculation about Jalen Hurts' injured ankle, the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday gave the start to back-up Gardner Minshew who tossed a pair of touchdowns in the Birds 33-18 win over the New York Jets. The inter-conference matchup was a back-and-forth for most of the first half with the Jets clinging to an 18-14 lead partway through the second quarter. Philadelphia climbed to a 21-18 lead on an 18-yard touchdown run by rookie running back Kenneth Gainwell.
