PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are searching for a suspect who they say shot at a police officer on Thursday morning. According to authorities, the shooting erupted on the 800 block of E Allegheny Avenue in the Kensington section of the city. Officials say the officer was not injured and did not shoot back. The suspect was last seen in an alleyway, authorities say. SKYFOX flew over the area on Thursday morning, where a large police presence could be seen. SKYFOX flew over a Kensington street, where a large police response could be spotted.

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - "Unsettling" behaviors, "worn out" staff and "potentially unsafe" situations has left one local school superintendent feeling the need to reach out to parents directly for help."I send this communication with hope and optimism of better days ahead for us as a community, but recent student behaviors are unsettling to say the least," Daniel McGarry, superintendent of Upper Darby School District, wrote in a letter to families last week.McGarry described the past few months as being emotionally and physically draining as physical fights and social media bullying have escalated in the district's schools, on buses and even outside school hours."We will not tolerate threats of violence or acts of violence in our schools or community. We have to do better," he wrote.The superintendent joined Good Day on Monday to discuss the "mixed" reactions from parents after sending out the letter asking parents to speak with their children about their behavior, and how to "treat one another with respect.""The reaction from some folks in the community is that teachers and administrators could do more," he told FOX 29's Alex Holley and Mike Jerrick.

HATBORO, Pa. - The wife of a former Hatboro K9 officer is readjusting to life after the passing of her husband, who suffered a severe reaction to a bee sting which resulted in a brain injury and a heart attack. Everything about the family's life changed in October 2021, when 35-year-old Ryan Allen was stung by a bee. His wife Whitney called 911 as Ryan tried to get some fresh air, but he lost consciousness on their porch after suffering from cardiac arrest. Ryan was first rushed to Doylestown Hospital before being flown to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. After being in the hospital for months, a procession full of his fellow officers led him from a rehabilitation center to his home for hospice care. A procession lead Hatboro K9 officer Ryan Allen from a rehab to hospice care months after he suffered complications from a reaction to a bee sting.Weeks later, Allen died, leaving behind his wife, their two sons, four-year-old Jackson and seven-month-old Leo and his K9 partner Louie. According to the Hatboro Police Department, Allen worked his way to K9 handler after joining the police force in 2013. He served as a patrol officer and a member of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force.

The family of 44-year-old Maurice Pinkard gave an emotional plea about getting justice for the husband, father and grandfather fatally struck by a vehicle in Upper Chichester Township.  UPPER CHICHESTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The family of a 44-year-old man killed in a hit and run in Pennsylvania is making an emotional plea for people to come forward with information. Police say troopers responded to mile marker 2.4 on I-95 north in Upper Chichester Township on Saturday around 9:12 p.m. According to authorities, troopers found Maurice Pinkard, a motorcycle and a pick-up truck after they were all struck by a vehicle. State Police say a 44-year-old man died after he was fatally struck by a blue Ford F-150 that veered into the shoulder and hit him on Saturday night. The search for the vehicle and the driver involved is ongoing.Investigators say it was determined that a blue Ford F-150 traveling in the right lane on I-95 swerved onto the shoulder, striking Pinkard, who was filling his wife's car with gas after she ran out, and two other vehicles. Maurice's wife Caprice, four of their six children and one of their grandchildren joined Good Day Philadelphia to discuss the tragedy and their search for justice. The family of 44-year-old Maurice Pinkard, who was killed in a hit-and-run in Upper Chichester Township, speak with FOX 29's Mike Jerrick about how Maurice's death has impacted their family.

PHILADELPHIA - As investigators continue to probe a shooting at a 4th of July fireworks show in Philadelphia that left two police officers hurt, one of the injured officers said he feels grateful that his injuries weren't far worse than they could have been. Officer Sergio Diggs, a 14-year member of the Philadelphia Police Department, was assigned to highway patrol on Independence Day. As a large crowd gathered on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for 4th of July fireworks, Diggs and Montgomery County deputy John Foster were struck by gunfire. A massive police response swarmed the 2500 block of Spring Garden Street as onlookers ran for safety.
