Good Morning Britain fans concerned for Kate Garraway amid husband Derek's health battle

Kate Garraway's husband Derek Draper's ill health has been the topic of concern as of late after worried fans took to social media to ask for an update. The Good Morning Britain presenter has been caring for her spouse, 54, since his Covid-19 battle back in March 2020 which left him in a critical condition - making him one of the country's longest-suffering patients after he spent 13 months in hospital. However, since the star, 55, returned back to her ITV duties on August 1 - following Derek's recent hospital dash with severe sepsis several weeks ago, fans of GMB have been tweeting their concern for the star. A topic about Archie Battersbee, a young boy who has been the subject of a health debate after campaigns to keep his life support switched on, sparked further concern about Kate's wellbeing.

One Twitter user said: "You and your family have been through much, but especially poor Derek. I wish him a speedy recovery and fingers crossed you can have him home soon xxx" While another said: "Best Wishes Kate, you've really been through the mill. You've been incredibly positive and I do wish you and your husband well." As a third wrote: "Gosh this lady I admire to support her hubby the way she does and carry on working every day to keep her family together god bless her and all the family".

"Omg Kate so sorry Derek is still suffering, u r an absolute legend star power of strength. Amazing mom & wife sending loads of love to the 4 of u," a fourth quipped. “Kate, you’re incredible.

Everyone loves you. Hope Derek is better and back home soon,” said a fifth. Derek has been left fighting a number of health problems ever since he caught Coronavirus and is still receiving specialist care.

New Covid symptoms added to NHS official list including headaches and diarrhoea
NHS have shared an updated list of symptoms as headaches and diarrhoea are identified as Covid calling cards. Many symptoms are similar to those that you may experience with the flu or a cold, including a high temperature and chills, a continuous cough and a sore throat. The news comes as it was announced that a record 4.9 million people have the virus in the UK, and that figure could rise further over the coming weeks. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) officials say that is the highest number seen since its survey began at the end of April 2020, and that the surge in infections is being driven partly by the contagious Omicron BA.2 sub-variant and the fact that restrictions have been essentially eradicated. The main symptoms of Covid are still the same: a high temperature, a new, continuous cough and a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. However as new strains emerge and the virus develops, other symptoms have also been reported to be linked with the sickness.According to the NHS the signs of COVID-19 that people should look out for also include:A note on the NHS website adds: "The symptoms are very similar to symptoms of other illnesses, such as colds and flu."The NHS list had just three symptoms for almost two years, this is despite the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US having had longer symptom lists for some time."Why now make that change when it's been stuck on just the three for so long?" Kate Garraway asked Dr Hilary on GMB today (Monday, April 4). To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here .
