direct to your inboxAn eleventh-hour decision to cancel three outdoor artisan markets due to Covid concerns has sparked fury.Heaton Moor Producers Market, Cheadle Makers Market and Romiley Village Square Market were all due to welcome customers for Christmas shopping over the weekend.But despite outdoor markets being permitted under Tier 3 restrictions, Stockport council refused them permission to go ahead, under advice from director of public health Jennifer Connolly.The authority says the decision was taken with a ‘heavy heart’ but with the aim of keeping infection rates low - and hopefully moving into Tier 2 before the end of the month.Stallholders are to be paid a £200 discretionary grant to compensate them for the loss of
