Boomers Leading Changes In Retirement Communities.
CNBC (9/21, Horch) reports, “The traditional notion of retirement is changing,” with “the old formula of cookie-cutter retirement communities...being challenged by the rise of customizable living arrangements.” With people living longer, “they want their retirement to reflect their lifestyle choices.” Baby Boomers are “leading the evolution of retirement communities,” which are “changing in design and location.” Some are appearing near college campuses. Consultant Jane Marie O’Connor of 55+ said, “People are seeking a new adventure for a phase in their lives.
