Fears over future of Kirkcudbright and Newton Stewart hospitals
Concerns have been raised over the future of Kirkcudbright and Newton Stewart community hospitals post Covid-19.They are among four sites in the region designated as “step-down facilities” for treating coronavirus patients.However, Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary has coped with the lower than expected demand so far.As a result staff from the hospitals have been temporarily redeployed and that has prompted speculation over the long-term future of cottage hospitals.Galloway MSP Finlay Carson, pictured below, told the News he raised the issue with NHS chief executive Jeff Ace weeks ago.He said: “This is totally unacceptable, but not a surprise that NHS Dumfries and Galloway are once again failing to engage with not only the public, but
