PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for blowing up an ATM during the civil unrest in spring 2020. According to United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams, 26-year-old David Elmakayes was given the sentence and three years of supervised release for "using an explosive device to damage an ATM machine and for illegally possessing a firearm." Elmakayes was charged with malicious damage of property with an explosive device, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and related charges on June 18, 2020. Officials say on the night of June 3, 2020, he used an explosive device to damage an ATM on the 200 block of East Westmoreland Street in North Philadelphia. FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser reports.According to authorities, at the time of his arrest, Elmakayes also had three more explosive devices in his possession along with a .32 caliber pistol. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"This defendant took advantage of a volatile situation on the streets of Philadelphia to commit a dangerous act that could have injured many people," Williams said. "Damaging property with an explosive device and illegally carrying a firearm are federal crimes which our Office will aggressively prosecute.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office has approved murder and related charges against Keith Gibson in connection with his mother’s death in East Falls.Christine Gibson, 54, was found fatally shot in her office last February.  At that point, police could not link Gibson to the murder and he was sent back to Delaware in custody and got out of custody sometime in March.Neighbors FOX 29’s Dave Schratwieser spoke with on the 2700 block of North Corskley Street remembered Christine fondly. "She was very nice, stayed to herself, helped the community, always wanted to work on the block," one neighbor said.Murder and related charges have already been approved against Gibson in the shooting death of Philadelphia Dunkin' manager

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting inside of a vehicle in North Philadelphia that left a man and woman dead. Shortly before 1:20 p.m., officers responded to the scene on the 2700 block of West Huntingdon Street in North Philadelphia. Police say a man and woman were both found to have been shot once in the head as they sat inside a vehicle. Responding medics pronounced both victims dead at the scene.

PHILADELPHIA - A suspect is in custody in the shooting death of a Dunkin Donuts store manager in the city's Fairhill neighborhood. Police sources tell FOX 29 he is also a suspect in a similar incident last month in Delaware and could be connected to other attacks.Authorities in Wilmington say Keith Gibson, 39, was taken into custody Tuesday morning after a robbery at a Rite Aid.
