The Government has yet to finalise a date when EU Digital Covid Certificates will be sent to the 1.8 million people who are fully vaccinated.
The document is primarily due to facilitate the return of international travel on 19 July. However, it may also be used to facilitate a return of indoor hospitality on the same date.
Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, said he expects plans to resume international travel to be "on track" for 19 July. Speaking on his way into the Cabinet meeting this morning at Dublin Castle, he said any further reopening of the country will be done "step by step". "It won't be like the UK where they're throwing the doors open to everything … it will be a more staged process here," Mr Ryan said.
