Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said there is every chance that other areas of the country might move to Level 3 of Covid-19 restrictions, but that such a move is not inevitable.
Dr Glynn has appealed to people in seven counties to pay particular attention to public health advice. The warning comes as Level 3 restrictions come into force in Donegal, where targetted garda checkpoints will be in place in from today.
Donegal has the highest seven-day and 14-day incidence of the virus in the country, with a seven-day incidence of 108 cases per 100,000 of population.
