Only one Scottish MP is sure to back Boris Johnson’s plans for new covid rules in a Commons vote on Tuesday night. Labour’s Ian Murray MP said he would vote for covid passports to be introduced in England as part of a public health package while the Scottish Tories backed away from supporting their own Prime Minister.
Scottish Secretary Alister Jack is expected to support the government as a member of the cabinet in the vote that could see Boris Johnson facing his largest Commons rebellion yet.
But Jack may still follow the other five Scottish Conservatives who have adopted a policy of not taking part in votes on the introduction of covid regulations that only apply in England.
