CROWELL, Texas - A North Texas wind farm is one turbine down thanks to what officials believe was a devastating lightning strike to one of the massive structures on Friday afternoon.Videos from witnesses and firefighters showed the wind turbine generator ablaze and disintegrate in the sky over Crowell, Texas.Doppler radar indicated there was plenty of lightning strikes around the Foard City wind facility before firefighters received the call about the high-altitude fire.Lightning struck a wind turbine on Friday afternoon in Crowell, Texas.HOW TO WATCH FOX WEATHER ON TVCrews with the Crowell Volunteer Fire Department responded, but Fire Chief Perry Shaw said there was little his firefighters could do to put the fire out."We’re not equipped to handle that kind of fire. PHILADELPHIA - Family members and loved ones of a Philadelphia senior citizen who died following an attack by a group of kids gathered to mourn and demand change. Authorities say 73-year-old James Lambert was attacked by a group of youths last month on the 2100 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue around 3 a.m.The Philadelphia Police Department released surveillance video of the attack and announced a $20k reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. The video appeared to show a group of teens surrounding Lambert and some of them could be seen picking up a traffic cone and hitting Lambert. RELATED COVERAGEOfficials say Lambert was knocked to the ground during the attack.

MILWAUKEE - The parents of a 9-year-old Wisconsin girl have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the popular social media platform, TikTok, claiming their daughter died after becoming obsessed with participating in TikTok challenges. Arriani Jaileen Arroyo received her first cellphone from her parents when she was 7 years old, according to the Social Media Victims Law Center (SMVLC) which is representing the Arroyo family. Arriani downloaded TikTok and started to post videos of herself dancing and singing, as many users do on the social media platform. But as she continued to use the app, Arriani became obsessed with participating in TikTok challenges, her family claimed. "Because many of these Tik Tok challenges involved eating and dancing, Arriani’s parents did not regard them as dangerous," SMVLC said in a news release.  But on Feb.

Ontario government says it will extend its paid sick days program for missed work as a result of COVID-19 until the end of March 2023.The extension will last another eight months until March 31, 2023.Eligible workers will continue to get up to $200 a day for up to three days if they need to get tested, vaccinated, get booster shots, self-isolate or care for a family member who is ill from COVID-19, the government said.The government said it will keep reimbursing eligible employers for the paid leave days. Ford government urged to extend paid sick leave amid COVID-19 wave Earlier in July, Premier Doug Ford was urged to extend the program as it was slated to end on July 31.The provincial Worker Income Protection Benefit program was first introduced in April 2021 during the Alpha-Delta-driven wave of COVID-19 and extended amid the Omicron stage of the pandemic.Since the program was implemented, government data shows around half-a-million workers have relied on the program to call in sick without interrupting their pay.Previously, as of June 24, the government had said 470,000 workers have claimed a sick day, costing the province $189 million.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Public officers, law enforcement officials, and faith-based organizations joined forces to hold a cookout for Atlantic City community members on Wednesday night. The Coalition for a Safe Community held the cookout to help strengthen the relationship between law enforcement officials and community members while also bringing necessary resources to a community that has been devastated by COVID-19. The coalition started back in 2010 when organizations from across the city took action to combat crime and violence. Tockeem Washington and his 4-year-old daughter, Kaabah, came out to the cookout to support the police because Washington says Atlantic City needs police to protect the community. "Law enforcement protects the kids and everybody else," Washington said.

TRENTON - Officials credited a Good Samaritan for running into a Trenton house fire and helping people inside safely evacuate the burning home. Firefighters from the Trenton and Hamilton fire departments were called to a home on the 300 block of Cleveland Avenue around 12:30 p.m.The fire increased to three-alarms and three firefighters were injured while battling the blaze.
