Alongside gas, milk powder queues were a recent addition to the mounting woes of the people of present-day Sri Lanka.Nugegoda a bustling town just outside the borders of greater Colombo is home to a large number of residents and many others who arrive from all parts of the island seeking employment.According to our correspondents, many people ranging from teenagers to elderly pensioners were seen in lengthy queues opposite a leading local dairy produce outlet.A frustrated youth told us that he couldn’t turn up for work because of the long queue. An elderly mother told that they are now bearing the repercussions by voting in the current rulers and are now forced to stand in queues from 5 in the morning with a risk of returning home empty-handed.Another retired gentleman mockingly said the government is providing the people with free ‘Vitamin D’ by making them stand under the sun. Some people who were too furious about the situation opted to remain silent. .

New York AG says Trump's company misled banks, tax officials
Donald Trump (file photo) NEW YORK - The New York attorney general's office late Tuesday told a court that its investigators had uncovered evidence that President Donald Trump's company used "fraudulent or misleading" asset valuations to get loans and tax benefits. The court filing said state authorities haven't yet decided whether to bring a civil lawsuit in connection with the allegations, but that investigators need to question Trump and his two eldest children as part of the probe. Trump and his lawyers say the investigation is politically motivated. In the court documents, Attorney General Letitia James' office gave its most detailed accounting yet of its investigation into allegations that Trump's company repeatedly misstated the value of assets to get favorable loan terms or slash its tax burden. The Trump Organization, it said, had overstated the value of land donations made in New York and California on paperwork submitted to the IRS to justify several million dollars in tax deductions. The company misreported the size of Trump's Manhattan penthouse, saying it was nearly three times its actual size -- a difference in value of about $200 million, James' office said, citing deposition testimony from Trump's longtime financial chief Allen Weisselberg, who was charged last year with tax fraud in a parallel criminal investigation.James' office detailed its findings in a court motion seeking to force Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr.

Fuel standards NOT changed & Fuel stocks will increase weekly – Gammanpila
COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said the Central Bank of Sri Lanka had released US Dollars to the Ministry on Tuesday (18) to secure the delivery from two fuel tankers that were anchored off Colombo.“The consignment contains over 37,000 MT of Diesel and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will deliver 10,000 MT for electricity generation,” he told the weekly Cabinet Media Briefing on Wednesday (19), adding that this stock will be sufficient for a period of 8 days.He also that Sri Lanka’s power generation crisis that should have been solved internally between the Ministries of Power and Energy, has unfortunately spilled into the public domain.“All the allegations and issues could have been raised internally and the solution made public,” said the Minister. He also added that NO proposal was made to change the standards of the fuel delivered to Sri Lanka, adding that these are matters spread across social media platforms by those who wish to generate profits from Diesel.“Some may be mixing other fuel, like Kerosene, to generate more profits,” he said adding that if a person has been victimized via such measures, one must immediately notify the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation over the matter. He said that Sri Lanka’s fuel stocks fluctuate every week, and there will be shipments coming in every week to Sri Lanka, and dismissed claims that Sri Lanka is losing fuel stocks by the day.
