The National Public Health Emergency team will meet today to review recent trends and data on Covid-19 and make recommendations to the Government.
Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn says there will be a strong message coming out about reducing social contacts. There has now been a total of 1,781 coronavirus-related deaths, with three additional deaths announced yesterday, and a total of 30,164 confirmed cases.
NPHET says Dublin is driving the increase in the number of cases nationally. Chair of the Advisory group Prof Philip Nolan says cases in the capital are growing close to 5% per day and if this continues the number of cases would double every 14 days.
