The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet today to discuss the recent rise in cases of Covid-19 and decide if recommendations for further restrictions are required.
The meeting comes amid concerns about the high incidence of the virus in some counties. One further death was reported by the Department of Health yesterday evening, while 429 new cases were confirmed.
Currently there are just two counties - Dublin and Donegal - on Level 3 of the government's Living with Covid plan with all other areas on Level 2.
Today, members of NPHET, including Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn, will meet to review the key virus trends and decide if recommendations should be made - to move other locations to Level 3 restrictions.
