NPHET meets today on further easing

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) will meet this afternoon to formulate its advice for Government on the scheduled further easing of restrictions this Friday.

This Friday, October 22 was the date set by Government to bring the curtain down on almost all the pandemic related rules in society and the economy.

However, it now seems likely that Covid Certificates will continue to be used in hospitality throughout the winter and the continued wearing of masks in a wide range of settings is also anticipated.

But there remains some confidence within Government that numbers at indoor and outdoor events could increase from Friday. The possibility of longer opening hours for bars and restaurants is also under consideration.
