Nicola Sturgeon announces one further coronavirus death in Scotland and five new cases

coronavirus meaning the hospital death toll has risen to 2,487. The number of positive cases of Covid-19 has increased to 18,264, a rise of five on yesterday’s figures.

The number of people being treated for confirmed or suspected cases of the virus in hospital stands at 785 with nine patients in intensive care.

Yesterday there was one death in Scotland after four days of no deaths in hospitals across the country for the first time.Friday was the first weekday since March that Scotland has recorded no new coronavirus deaths.

Scots are finding out today when social distancing rules can be relaxed to help the country out of lockdown. Nicola Sturgeon has already put a timetable to her wider plans, including for beer gardens and travel.
