coronavirus deaths recorded overnight in Scotland, the Scottish Government confirmed today. In the last 24 hours, there has been 949 fresh infections were recorded in the same time period.

The figures take the total number of confirmed cases in Scotland to 89,310 since the beginning of the pandemic. There are currently 1,208 people in hospital with Covid-19, while there are 84  being treated in intensive care.The figures were announced as a leading public health expert warned Christmas "bubble" plans to let families meet indoors could see deadly Covid spread to older relatives.Professor Linda Bauld said Scots should make their own careful risk assessments regardless of any relaxed rules on letting two or more groups gather over the festive.
