Delaying 2nd COVID-19 vaccine dose can help reduce deaths: study
COVID-19 vaccine but delaying a second dose among people younger than 65 could lead to fewer people dying of the disease, but only if certain conditions are met, a predictive modeling study showed. As the coronavirus pandemic continues, there is debate over whether to extend the gap between doses to give as many people as possible some protection, or stick to the intervals designated in clinical trials. For example, Pfizer has said there is no clinical evidence to support Britain’s decision to extend the gap between doses of its vaccine to 12 weeks, but data from the rollout in England shows protection against death of around 80 per cent from one dose, with a 70 per cent decline in infections. The U.S. study, published in the BMJ British

How China used media to peddle disinformation about Covid-19
coronavirus. The study gathered data from 50 countries and reported more than half of all countries coverage of China in their national media had been more positive since the start of the pandemic. More than three-quarters, 76 per cent reported that China had a visible presence in their media, up from 64 per cent the previous year.Analysing how China's state media have helped push Beijing's image around the world during the pandemic, the report states that in 2020, amid geopolitical tensions and international border closures, China banned foreign journalists. This measure effectively increased the global media's reliance on China's state-controlled outlets for content.

Will mixing doses of two Covid vaccines have any side effects? Here's what study finds
Work AbsencesThe study didn’t point to any safety issues and the stronger side effects vanished after a few days, he said on a conference call. The results suggest, however, that mixed dose schedules could result in an increase in work absences the day after immunization, according to Snape.“You wouldn’t want to immunize a ward full of nurses with a mixed schedule on the same day," he said.About 10% of participants who got mixed doses reported severe fatigue, for instance, compared with about 3% for those inoculated with a single type of vaccine, the research shows. All participants in the study are aged 50 and over.
