A range of new Covid-19 restrictions have come into effect in Dublin, in response to an increased spread of the virus in the city and county.
There are fresh curbs on social gatherings and travel in and out of the capital is being discouraged. People in Dublin are being asked to limit their socialising to no more than six people from one other household at any one time.
Only outdoor dining and takeaways will be allowed from restaurants and pubs serving food. The 14-day incidence rate of the virus per 100,000 of the population in Dublin is now 121, double the rate for the entire country.
Gardaí will recommence high visibility policing in the region, to encourage compliance with the new public health measures, which are in place for the next
