That was, until the pandemic hit. The 59-year-old, who represents Stretford ward where she grew up for the leading Labour party at Trafford council, has shared her experience after deciding to take up the Covid jab.
The executive member for health was the youngest of seven children in her family and her parents didn’t get her vaccinated as a baby.
When asked why she’d never had any vaccines as an adult, Councillor Slater said she hadn’t avoided it. She explained she had never travelled so ‘it just never happened’.
