COLOMBO (News 1st) – The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued stage one and two landslide earnings to several areas in view of rainfall exceeding 100mm in the last 24 hours.Accordingly, advance warnings of stage 01 (yellow) and stage 02 (amber) for landslides have been issued for Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts.Therefore, a stage two landslide warning has been issued for the Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretariat if the rain continues, and its surrounding areas.Public have been made aware of the risks of landslides, slope collapse, rock fall, earth mound collapse and land subsidence and have been instructed to prepare to move to a safe place if necessary.Stage 01 early landslide warning has been issued for the Nuwara Eliya District and the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Nuwara Eliya and Kothmale and surrounding areas, as well as to Kuruvita, Aheliyagoda, Alapatha, Ayagama, Kiriella and Ratnapura Divisional Secretariat Divisions and surrounding areas of the Ratnapura District.The NBRO has instructed for people in the relevant areas to be aware of the risk of landslides, slope collapse, rock fall, earth collapse and ground subsidence if the rain continues..
