Nan, 77, 'killed in hit and run' just one week after getting her Covid jab

A nan who was overjoyed to finally have received her Covid jab was tragically killed just a week later in a suspected a hit-and-run, it has been reported.

Jean Gerich, 77, was said to have been thrilled to be out and about again after receiving her coronavirus vaccination but died after a driver allegedly drove into her.

Police were reported to have said that Paul Rivas, 64, smashed into Jean along with nine others on Monday afternoon in the US city of Portland.

She was taken to hospital having suffered from blunt force trauma, but she died after succumbing to her injuries. Tributes have since poured in for the nan, who was also a cancer survivor, according to her family.
