Up to 2.5 million tests are believed to be missing amid a testing system that has been branded "absolute chaos". Figures released yesterday show the government has issued 10.6 million home testing kits through the post - while only 8 million of those have been returned.
The government however uses the number of tests issued in its official figures as opposed to the number of tests returned - sparking criticism it was spinning the figures.
