Mum's heartbreak as boy, 10, has hands and legs amputated after catching coronavirus

A mum has shared her heartbreak as her 10-year-old boy had his hands and legs amputated after rare complications set in when he caught coronavirus.

Dae’Shun Jamison has been in hospital since December after he caught the virus and went on to develop multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C).

The serious coronavirus-related inflammatory condition affects the brain, heart and lungs and can causes symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, neck pain and fatigue.

Due to the seriousness of Dae'Shun's condition medics in Michigan, US, placed him on an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) machine to pump oxygen throughout his body and support his failing heart and lungs.
