According to the DA's Office, police responded to the home for reports of a domestic incident. Police say Alexis Martinez was visiting his father and threatened him. Martinez, who has a history of assaults and mental health issues, had been drinking prior to the incident, the DA's Office says. According to police, officers responded to a 911 call for a shooting on West Aspley Street just before 1:30 a.m. Responding officers found a 25-year-old man sitting inside an unattended parked Nissan Sedan, authorities say. Medics realized he had been shot and pronounced him dead at 1:47 a.m., according to officials. Investigators say they believe he was shot outside the car but was able to run to get into the car. TRENTON, N.J. - A man is fighting for his life after police say he was hit by two vehicles while walking in Trenton Tuesday night, one of which fled the scene.John Giordano, 66, was crossing Route 129 with a baby carriage filled with ice when he was reportedly struck by an SUV that sent him into the left lane, and kept driving.The victim was then run over by a second vehicle, and became trapped underneath. Officials: Roosevelt Boulevard anti-speeding pilot program cut traffic deaths in half

PHILADELPHIA - City and state officials gathered in Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday to tout the success of an anti-speeding pilot program for Roosevelt Boulevard. PREVIOUS: Speed, red light cameras along Roosevelt Blvd. to begin operating June 1The Roosevelt Boulevard Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) pilot program, which began in June 2020, is set to expire in 2023 and city leaders are hoping to expand it throughout Philadelphia. Roosevelt Boulevard was selected due to its high rate of crashes in the city. Data released by the PennDOT reveals that 55% of crashes on that street were related to speeding or a result of aggressive driving. RELATED HEADLINESSince the program launch, Philadelphia Parking Authority data shows traffic deaths were cut in half within the first seven months. The agency also says speeding violations dropped by 93 percent as of January 2022. 'Very brave': Block captain shot after chasing catalytic converter thieves in East Germantown, police say

PHILADELPHIA - A block captain who confronted catalytic converter thieves was shot by the group in East Germantown on Wednesday morning, according to police. Authorities say three suspects were in the process of stealing a catalytic converter from a van on West Pomona Street when they were confronted by the van's owner and the block captain. The block captain then followed the three suspects as they fled to Germantown Avenue, where he was then shot by one of the suspects in the chest, police say. According to police, the man was transported to Einstein Medical Center for treatment. Chief Inspector Scott Small says the man is in critical condition but expected to survive. RELATED HEADLINESA neighbor told officers that her catalytic converter was also stolen from West Pomona Street over the weekend, according to Small. Investigators say they will work to determine if this incident is related to a pattern of catalytic converter thefts in the area. Small says the incident was captured on multiple private cameras. 5 injured after shooting erupts near West Philadelphia playground, police say

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say five people were hurt when nearly 100 shot were fired near a playground in West Philadelphia on Tuesday night. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department responded to the 400 block of North 57th Street around 7 p.m. after hearing gunshots. Police found five people between the ages of 17 and 25 suffering from gunshot wounds, including a 16-year-old and a 21-year-old who were shot in the head. Two others, ages 17 and 25, suffered graze wounds and a 22-year-old was shot in the hand. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators believe the shooting happened when two shooters in a white SUV fired multiple rounds and fled the scene. Captain John Walker told reporters that responding officers saw four men pile into a vehicle that fled the scene and later crashed on nearby Farson Street. The men jumped out of the car and tried to run from police, but three were taken into custody.
