A man who was arrested after two women were stabbed in a Marks & Spencer store, has been detained under the Mental Health Act, police said.
A member of staff in her 40s and a shopper in her 60s suffered stab injuries at the shop in St James Street, Burnley, at 9.30am on Wednesday.
A Lancashire police spokesman said the 57-year-old man had been detained for 28 days for an assessment of his mental health.
The incident is not being treated as terrorism and inquiries are continuing, the force said. The spokesman said one woman remained in hospital and the other had been discharged.
