COVID-19 and that the same number are off because they are a close contact of someone with the virus. He adds that this does not include all those off for other non-COVID-19-related reasons like vacations. The 321 is an increase from the 278 reported the day before.“When you get there, you’re short-staffed and waits are longer for our patients, and so that is a frustrating environment, both for providers and patients.

This is on the back of lots of fatigue, absolutely. We’re over two years into this and never thought I’d see wave three, let alone wave six, and I think many health-care workers feel the same,” Dukelow says. The increase in absences, coupled with the high COVID-19 case counts in the region and the fact most of those in the intensive care unit are unvaccinated is leading to fatigue and straining their resources, says LHSC’s chief of critical care Dr.

Wael Haddara. COVID-19 staffing shortages at London Health Sciences Centre could lead to service reductions Headed into a time when many people are likely to gather for a meal with family and friends, LHSC is urging people to take precautions like wearing a mask, avoiding large gatherings and staying outside when possible.Residents are also reminded to stay home if they are feeling any symptoms to avoid spreading the virus.“One thing we’ve learned over the last two years is that it doesn’t really pay to be optimistic or pessimistic about COVID, you just need to be ready, and right now, our readiness is really strained by our health human resource situation.

'Implicit bias': DSU filing civil rights complaint after lacrosse team searched for drugs in Georgia
DOVER, Del. - A traffic stop turned drug search has taken yet another turn amid accusations of racial profiling.Delaware State University, a historically black college, will file a formal civil rights complaint against the Liberty County Sheriff's Department after the lacrosse team was stopped in Georgia, according to Tony Allen, the university's president.Allen says the deputies performed a "constitutionally dubious stop and search" of the lacrosse team and their bus as they drove home on April 20.The team was pulled over in Liberty County for an alleged minor traffic violation. Deputies then boarded the bus to announces they would be conducting a search."If there is something in there that is questionable, please tell me now because if we find it, guess what? We’re not going to be able to help you," one deputy said.Allen claims the stop and search was a violation of rights for every passenger on the bus, as well as the driver."Our first and most immediate concern was our students and coaches mental and physical well-being," he said.Allen says he has been in contact with Liberty County's sheriff, whose recent comments have raised several questions.Recently released body camera footage shows the deputies and drug-sniffing dogs searching the team's luggage and personal belongings.

Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron pulled out of the band’s show in Oakland last night (May 12) after testing positive for COVID-19.It was the first time in 24 years the sticksman has missed a show with the band.As a result, touring member and former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer stepped in on drumming duties for a series of tracks including Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’, ‘Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town’, ‘Why Go’ and ‘Corduroy’.Longtime band collaborator Richard Stuverud also got behind the drums for ‘Quick Escape’ and ‘Superblood Wolfmoon’ before a fan stepped up for the show’s finale ‘Yellow Ledbetter’. You can view footage below. It comes just days after the band honoured Foo Fighters’ late drummer Taylor Hawkins during their LA concert at The Forum by performing 2005 song ‘Cold Day In The Sun’.The original version of the track featured Hawkins on lead vocals and, for the Seattle band’s performance of it, Cameron took on singing duties.Cameron and Hawkins previously worked together in the band Nighttime Boogie Association, releasing two songs together – ‘Long In The Tooth’ and ‘The Path We’re On’ – in 2020.Last week, Pearl Jam took another moment to remember Hawkins as they kicked off their ‘Gigaton’ tour in San Diego.
