NEW CASTLE, De. - Police in Delaware say they thwarted a sexual encounter between a man and a 14-year-old girl inside a car after-hours at park in New Castle County.Police on patrol near Glasgow Park early Friday morning saw a vehicle enter the closed park near the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Route 896. Officers approached the vehicle and allegedly found 48-year-old Stephen Gregory in the driver's seat and a 14-year-old female on the passengers side. Police say Gregory showed signs of nervousness when talking to officer and provided vague answers to their questions.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Travelers have plenty of new destination options when flying out of Wilmington International Airport in Delaware.Avelo Airlines announced nine new non-stop routes to destinations including Charleston, South Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee and spring break favorite Daytona Beach, Florida, all for inexpensive rates.The airline says the fares start at just $29.00.The airline went on to say a second Boeing 737 made the additional destinations possible, while adding new jobs in the area.The airline does say additional fees for carry-on and checked bags, assigned seats and other services may apply.The new non-stop routes begin in the summer.

TELFORD, Pa. - April is Autism Awareness Month, and a local musician is using his performances to fundraise in different ways, including for sensory toys and devices at his five-year-old daughter’s school."Their way of thinking is normal to them, it just looks different to us," says Ray Coleman, an Irish musician and father to Céilí, who was diagnosed with autism at age two."She wasn’t answering her name when we would say her name, not much eye contact, wasn’t playing with toys properly just wasn’t meeting her milestones," says Jaclyn Coleman, Céilí’s mom.Currently, Céilí is non-verbal, but early intervention, most recently at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, is teaching her other ways to voice her wants and needs.She started with using pictures, and is now moving to an AAC device, which looks like an iPad. Through apps, Céilí can communicate about almost anything."What she wants to play with, what she wants to eat , it’s allowing her to identify colors that she may not be able to identify," says Ali Melman, Céilí’s Early Intervention Autistic Support Teacher at MCIU.Céilí’s parents say she started to use the device at home and it’s a game changer."We could tell that she wasn’t feeling good, and she started hitting ‘My belly hurts, my belly hurts,’ on her iPad," says Jaclyn.However, these devices are not readily available.The Coleman’s say they quickly learned that they are not only expensive, but Céilí’s took nine months to come in.

Officials say a 2004 Honda Civic driven by a 17-year-old was going north on Fort Mifflin Road. Two passengers were in the car, according to crash investigators. At the same time, a 2018 Ford Econoline Penske vehicle was going south on Fort Mifflin Road, per police. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to authorities, the driver of the Honda lost control, entered the southbound lane and struck the Penske vehicle head on. The teen driver of the Honda and the passenger in the front seat sustained serious injuries, officials say. Local counties hope new bullet analysis program will help solve more gun crimes

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - District Attorneys in the four collar counties of Philadelphia say they have begun using a new, high-tech tracking system they think will allow them to make more gun arrests and save lives.The Nibin System analyzes the unique grooves and patterns formed on the spent shell of a bullet when it's fired. Investigators hope to us the information to link the shell to a gun and the person who pulled the trigger. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said the system "enables us to interrupt the shooting cycle, stopping a shooter from doing it again and therefore reducing overall gun violence."Steele joined district attorneys from Bucks, Chester, and Delaware counties in a Wednesday afternoon press conference, with piles of spend casing heaped in front of them.

String of catalytic converter in thefts in Delaware County targeted specific vehicle type

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The ongoing trend of catalytic converter thefts appears to be victimizing a new type of vehicle in one Pennsylvania community, according to local police.
