He will lead a transformation of the Fancy Brigade Festival and Finale during the Mummers Parade, as well as how it is presented on television and streaming services."The Fancies have a long history of over 60 years and we’re going to continue to tell their story.

PHILADELPHIA - A devastated family is mourning the loss of their beloved son and brother, who was taken from them in one tragic moment at the young age of just 15 years old.Devin Weedon was shot and killed while walking to Simon Gratz High School early Monday morning. Police say he was fatally shot in the chest after a fight with three male suspects.His mom, dad and older sister joined Good Day Philadelphia in an emotional interview to remember the 15-year-old boy, whose promising future was cut short by unnecessary violence."He was an all-around good kid; didn't cause trouble; didn't bother anyone," Devin's mom said.

PHILADELPHIA - As the family of Ellen Greenberg searches for answers more than 10 years after her death, the Chester County District Attorney's Office is now taking over the case. Greenberg, a school teacher, was found stabbed to death inside her Manayunk apartment in January 2011.Her death came just a few days after she sent out save the dates for her upcoming wedding. Officials initially ruled her death as a suicide before changing it to homicide. Then, the medical examiner's office switched the matter of death back to suicide, but Greenberg's parents, Sandee and Josh, were determined to keep pushing for answers. They maintained that Greenberg could not have stabbed herself that many times."I want my daughter's name cleared, because there's no way that she could have done that to herself," Sandee Greenberg said on Good Day Philadelphia in 2021. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESGreenberg's parents filed a lawsuit against the medical examiner's office and were granted a non-jury trial to try and get the cause of death changed back to homicide or marked as "undecided." Tom Brennan, a private investigator, joined Greenberg's parents on Good Day Philadelphia and said Ellen's fiance's uncle removed items from the apartment after the crime scene was cleared, including two laptops and a cell phone. "Right then and there, that negates that chain of evidence," Brennan said. "That adversely impacts the chain of evidence on those devices so that anything that's discovered on those devices can be challenged in court."According to Brennan, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office promised to provide a forensic analysis of Ellen's laptop, but the family never received a report.

PHILADELPHIA - A South Philadelphia community gathered Monday to remember a local musician who was gunned down outside his family's home. Authorities say 26-year-old Joelill Foy was fatally shot in the neck while sitting outside his family's South Philadelphia home on Sigel Street around 7 p.m. Foy was a member of the singing group ‘Brotherly Love,' an act that performed on Good Day Philadelphia in 2014 and once sang for former President Barrack Obama.Tangalee Lewis, Foy's mother, joined Monday's "Peace, Not Guns" outreach as part of public safety week still in shock about her son's untimely death. Joelill Foy, 26, was shot and killed outside his family's South Philadelphia home, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA - Mother's Day in Philadelphia took a violent turn Sunday afternoon into the evening and police are now investigating three separate shootings across the city. Authorities say at least two people are dead and several others were injured in the violent incidents and several families are now feeling the pain of loss. The violence started with a double shooting in Kensington at the intersection of Kensington Avenue and Clearfield Street, according to authorities. Police say a woman, 25, was shot in the head and brought to Temple Hospital, where she is in critical condition. A man, 40, was injured in the same shooting and is in stable condition at the hospital, according to authorities. ____MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAs the sun began to set, violence continued. A shooting on E Schiller Street left a 21-year-old man dead on the highway, authorities say.
