Airport worker dies after being ‘ingested’ by plane engine in Texas

San Antonio International Airport Friday evening, according to the U.S.’ National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).Delta Air Lines Flight 1111 had just arrived in San Antonio from Los Angeles and was taxiing to its gate with one engine on when the fatal incident occurred.The NTSB stated that “a worker was ingested into that engine at about 10:25 p.m.” The plane involved was an Airbus A319.The worker has not yet been identified by name, though the Federal Aviation Administration said Friday that they were an airport ramp worker employed by Unifi Aviation, a company that Delta Air Lines contracts for ground crew operations.The safety board is investigating the circumstances of the tragic accident and is “in the information gathering process at this point.”It’s not clear how the incident happened or if it was related to safety protocols.The San Antonio International Airport also confirmed the death of the ground crew member Friday night and is co-operating with the NTSB’s investigation.“We are deeply saddened by this incident and are working with authorities as they begin their investigation. Canadian study on COVID-19 heart health, vaccines gets funding boost

COVID-19 and COVID-19 mRNA vaccines on the heart is getting a boost in funding following reports of rare cases of myocarditis and pericarditis during the pandemic.The study, called the Canadian Cardiovascular Society National Active Surveillance Study of Myocarditis and/or Pericarditis following mRNA COVID-19 Vaccination (MYCOVACC), will receive an additional $2 million from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) over two years.In all, the study will have a total investment of $3.6 million over three years.According to a news release, the funding will allow the study to expand and extend patient follow-up and perform cardiac imaging on those affected.“(The study) is working to determine if people who experience these rare heart conditions are at increased risk of future health problems,” said cardiologist Dr. Nathaniel Hawkins, who leads the study.MYCOVACC began in October 2022 in response to reports of rare cases of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the lining surrounding the heart muscle) following mRNA vaccines and COVID-19 infection.“While most people make a full recovery after myocarditis and pericarditis, long-term outcomes warrant further investigation,” the news release reads.

Gascón: LA City's Curren Price used public money on woman's medical benefits while married to someone else

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles City Councilman Curren Price is facing corruption allegations, including using public money for medical benefits for a woman while he was married to someone else. On Tuesday, Price was charged with embezzlement, perjury and conflict of interest.According to a statement released by Los Angeles County DA George Gascón, Price allegedly pulled more than $33,000 in city money for medical benefits for his now-wife while he was married to another woman. In addition, Curren allegedly took a financial interest in projects that he voted on, Gascón said."This alleged conduct undermines the integrity of our government and erodes the public's trust in our elected officials," Gascón said in a press release Tuesday.

Shannen Doherty posted an honest video about her breast cancer treatment on Tuesday and told fans the disease has spread to her brain.Doherty, who was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2020, posted an emotional video to Instagram of herself crying as she underwent radiation therapy on her brain.
