ANDOVER, Kan. - Severe storms across Kansas produced softball-sized hail and several tornadoes Friday, leaving behind damage and thousands without power.Several videos from Andover, Kansas, showed at least one of the tornadoes moving through areas populated with businesses and homes. Only minor injuries have been reported at this time."We know there was a direct tornado strike that started in Sedgwick County and traveled into Andover. We had many buildings in Andover take very tough damage.

WICHITA, Kansas - John Mounce of Wichita, Kansas, was hoping for a big catch when he went fishing over the Memorial Day weekend, and the water did not disappoint. While using sonar equipment to find the best spot to cast his reel at Cheney Lake, he found a Jeep buried underwater. Turned out the Jeep was stolen and is now a part of a criminal investigation. RELATED: Scantily clad 'witches' caught munching on deer carcass in bizarre security cam footage"I was scanning around looking for structure to fish for crappie and something showed up on my side view," he told FOX Television Stations. "I circled back and dropped my Garmin live scope on it and knew immediately it was a Jeep!"Video and pictures of the Jeep showed the vehicle completely worn and rusted. John Mounce posing with the stolen Jeep he found under water.  (John Mounce )"I caught the crappie off of the jeep then called the authorities," he added. The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office told Mounce the Jeep was stolen in 1990, but they didn't provide any more details. "I was shocked and kind of excited at what I'd found," he continued. Mounce said the Jeep is now with authorities, and the Wichita Police Department is also investigating.

(Photo by Owen Humphreys/PA Images via Getty Images) UNITED KINGDOM - New research shows that flamingos may be similar to popular high school students – forming cliques with like-minded individuals within their flocks. In the study, published in the journal Nature on March 1, scientists analyzed the personalities and social behavior of Caribbean and Chilean flamingos to examine opportunities for social support.Data was collected from separately housed flocks of 147 Caribbean birds and 115 Chilean birds between March and July 2014. Researchers at the University of Exeter and the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) in the United Kingdom found that birds of both species tended to spend time with others whose personality was similar to their own.  The bird and another flamingo escaped from the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita on a stormy night in June 2005.

WICHITA, Kan. - One of two flamingos that escaped from a Kansas zoo during a storm 17 years ago has been spotted on the coast of Texas, wildlife officials said.The Coastal Fisheries division of Texas Parks and Wildlife confirmed Tuesday to The Associated Press that the African flamingo — known as No. 492 because of the number on its leg band — was captured on video shot March 10 by an environmental activist near Port Lavaca, Texas, at Rhodes Point in Cox Bay.

A Kansas man has been arrested in connection with threatening to kidnap and kill a mayor over a mandatory mask ordinance, which he called a form of tyranny, the mayor said Friday.  Meredith Dowty, 59, was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail, according to records, though he has not been charged.  Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple said another city official read him the text messages Dowty is accused of writing.They asked about his address and threatened his life, the Kansas City Star reported.
