Families frustrated by New Jersey school district abruptly relocating teachers, staff
CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Families in the Cherry Hill School District have grown frustrated that teachers have been abruptly relocated to other schools without explanation. Students and parents packed into a Cherry Hill School Board meeting Tuesday night to demand answers following the sudden transfer of their beloved teachers to other district schools. "Since we have gotten no reason, I think it’s punitive. I think it’s personal," one student said. District sources say nine teachers were moved out of Cherry Hill High School East and a handful of others moved from Cherry Hill High School West. Several staff changes were also made in three district middle schools."I feel like just switching around for the sake of switching around teachers, they don’t realize how much it effects our family in the history department, the family of teachers and all the established relationships with the students," a student said. Cherry Hill School District Superintendent Joseph Moloch said some level of teacher reassignments happen every year, but he admitted that more are taking place this time around. School officials would not talk about specific teachers, citing personnel issues and privacy, but said they don't make the moves lightly. Advertisement"We take a look at each one of the teachers and where can his or her talents make the most impact or make continued impact," Moloch said.

(Photo by AaronP/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images) Amazon has closed its $8.45 billion acquisition of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios as it looks to boost its streaming service offerings to compete with entertainment rivals Netflix and Disney. The move will allow Amazon to leverage MGM's catalog of more than 4,000 film titles and 17,000 TV episodes, including franchise favorites such as "James Bond," "Rocky" and "Creed," and classics such as "Thelma & Louise," "The Silence of the Lambs," "The Magnificent Seven" and "Raging Bull."  "MGM has a nearly century-long legacy of producing exceptional entertainment, and we share their commitment to delivering a broad slate of original films and television shows to a global audience," Amazon Studios and Prime Video senior vice president Mike Hopkins said in a statement. "We welcome MGM employees, creators, and talent to Prime Video and Amazon Studios, and we look forward to working together to create even more opportunities to deliver quality storytelling to our customers." The deal, which was first announced in May 2021, closed without being challenged by the Federal Trade Commission. In August, the FTC received a letter from the Strategic Organizing Center, a democratic union federation representing more than 4 million workers in the Service Employees International Union, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the Communications Workers of America and the United Farmworkers.

Citizens call for Briarcliffe Fire Company to lose certification over alleged racism caught on camera
DARBY TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Nearly a month after the Briarcliffe Fire Company was suspended for the alleged use of racial slurs on a recent virtual meeting, community members gathered to discuss the future of the department. The Darby Township Board of Commissioners on Wednesday held a special meeting that included many vocal community members who said they no longer trust the department. There was a call to remove the department's certification, but the board decided that they will not make any final decision until the District Attorney's Office is done with its investigation.Briarcliffe Fire Company was suspended after a Jan. 27 virtual meeting between township fire companies and commissioners about a potential consolidation. According to a letter from the Goodwill Fire Company obtained by FOX 29, following the end of the meeting, a group of people remained on the call. The letter says there was then a group of people that could be heard discussing the meeting using foul language, and identifies those involved in the conversation as members of the Briarcliffe Fire Company. A Delaware County fire company has been suspended for 30 days after members of the company allegedly uttered racist and derogatory comments following a virtual meeting late last month. The conversation, which lasted an hour and 45 minutes, allegedly included racial slurs when discussing members of other fire companies and township residents. One of the Briarcliffe Fire Company members was also accused of making a joke about, Fanta Bility, a young girl who was killed in a shooting in Sharon Hill last fall."It’s outright racism,", NAACP Local Chapter President Sheila Carter said.
