QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - Darien, the horse rescued after being abandoned on the streets of Philadelphia, is now temporarily living on a ranch in Quakertown. The horse, which was named after Darien Street where he was found, was discovered wandering the Hunting Park neighborhood in May. A horse abandoned in the streets of Philadelphia is now in search of a new home after being rescued by ACCT.  (ACCT Philadelphia)Concerned residents notified authorities and staff from Philadelphia's Animal Care & Control team responded. At the time of his rescue, Darien was underweight and in need of extra care. FOX 29's Jenn Frederick visited the Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown, where he has been for five days and will stay for about three months. Ranch staff says the horse was about 200 pounds underweight when he arrived and they are on a reseeding schedule to get him on the right track. They also say he needs to see the veterinarians and providers for necessary services, including, a farrier for hoof adjustments and an equine dental technician to examine his teeth. Over the next few months, the ranch staff will work with Darien to help him regain muscle and stamina to get him ready for possible adoption by the end of summer. The ranch has received numerous donations to help Darien's recovery, but the ranch also says it needs support for its other animals.Donations are being accepted online here and the ranch is actively looking for volunteers. 

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. - A single-car crash in Bucks County claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman Monday morning.Officials say the driver was speeding when she crashed into a train crossing post at the intersection of Broad and Front streets in Quakertown just before 6:30 a.m.The woman, identified as 19-year-old Ashley Kulick, was pronounced dead at the scene.MORE HEADLINES:Her death was ruled an accident from blunt force injuries, according to the coroner's office.

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - A Pennsylvania pet store is asking for the safe return of two ferrets it says were stolen by a woman from a glass enclosure. The apparent theft happened Thursday afternoon at Pets Plus in Quakertown. Surveillance footage shared by the store shows the woman making sure the coast is clear before reaching into the enclosure and grabbing the ferrets.After she picks up the animals, the woman is seen making a beeline for the store's front entrance. According to wildlife experts, young ferrets need a lot of attention and the proper food in order to thrive. AdvertisementThe store is urging anyone with information on the alleged theft to come forward. 

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - A Pennsylvania man could spend more than a decade behind bars after prosecutors say he beat his then-girlfriend in the head with an aluminum baseball bat at a Bucks County hotel last year. Roland Blake Ghiloni, 51, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of aggravated assault and other charges related to the Jan. 30, 2021 incident at the Bush House Hotel in Quakertown. Officers responded to the hotel around 10 p.m.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Two suburban Philadelphia women are facing misdemeanor voter fraud charges after authorities allege they completed mail-in ballots for the November 2020 election by signing the names of their deceased mothers.Bucks County prosecutors say Danielle Dooner, 56, of Buckingham Township and Melissa Ann Fisher, 51, of Quakertown were both charged by summons with third-degree misdemeanor violations of provisions relating to absentee and mail-in ballots.Prosecutors said Dooner's mother died Sept. 29 but they allege her daughter completed the mail-in ballot for the 2020 General Election for her mother, signing the declaration purporting to be her mother on Oct.

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. - Two men are accused in a string of Target thefts in five Pennsylvania counties and one store in New Jersey. According to police, they are after high-price items, including electronics and appliances like Shark Robot vacuums.Investigators tell FOX 29 thefts at Target stores seem to be up right now and masks add a challenge to their investigation. Most of us are guilty of too many trips to Target, but police hope that will work to their advantage in helping identify these people.Richland Township police say the men and a woman hit their Quakertown store three times on March 13, March 14, and March 17.

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - A man who police say was walking in and out of traffic on the northeast extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike died after he was fatally struck by multiple vehicles early Thursday morning.Pennsylvania State Troopers from the King of Prussia Barracks were called to the 46.6 mile marker of the turnpike around 4:30 a.m. By the time troopers responded, police say the man had been struck by several cars.

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - A stretch of the northeast extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been closed after a person was struck by a car.The northbound lanes of I-476 are closed between Quakertown and Lehigh Valley as authorities investigate the incident.Police say the person was struck near the 46.6 mile marker. No word on the victim's condition.Motorists should expect delays to last for an extended period of time.

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - A father and daughter from Bucks County built a marimba during quarantine.  Kaitlyn Zajkowski became enamored with the marimba a couple of years ago when she joined the Quakertown Community High School marching band but when the pandemic hit and students went home she had no access to the band room.Kaitlyn was longing for the instrument again, a way to practice, and find peace through learning music.Marimbas can run into the thousands and that's when the senior came up with the idea to build her own. Kaitlyn enlisted the help of her dad."She researched it and did everything that needed to be done.
