PHILADELPHIA - Owners of certain Hyundai and Kia models are being advised to take special precautions securing their vehicles due to a rash of thefts that has been sweeping cities across the nation.The Lower Moreland Police Department in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania issued a warning Wednesday that a new TikTok challenge "encourages teens and young adults to break into these cars and steal them." Videos shared on social media demonstrated how the ignition systems in mainly 2011-2021 Kias and 2015-2021 Hyundais with physical keys could be easily hacked using a screwdriver, pliers or the end of a USB cable, because the vehicles are not equipped with immobilizers that require the presence of a key fob with a transponder to work.MORE LOCAL HEADLINESNo local cases have been reported, but the Lower Moreland Police Department suggested that owners of the targeted vehicles might consider using a steering wheel locking device. "It’s pretty much just hot-wiring a car with no hot wiring required," said David Young, a Software and Car Analyst.The problem first came to the nation's attention in Milwaukee last year, where over 5,700 of the brands' cars were stolen through November, according to authorities. (Daniel Acker/Bloomberg via Getty Images) NEW YORK - A Pennsylvania mortgage company owned by billionaire businessman Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway discriminated against potential Black and Latino homebuyers in Philadelphia, New Jersey and Delaware, the Department of Justice said Wednesday, in what they are calling the second-largest redlining settlement in history.Trident Mortgage Co., a division of Berkshire's HomeServices of America, deliberately avoided writing mortgages in minority-majority neighborhoods in West Philadelphia like Malcolm X Park; Camden, New Jersey; and in Wilmington, Delaware; the DOJ and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said in their settlement with Trident. As part of the agreement with the DOJ and the CFPB, Trident will have to set aside $20 million to make loans in underserved neighborhoods.RELATED: Milwaukee housing discrimination grants awarded, nearly $1M"Trident’s unlawful redlining activity denied communities of color equal access to residential mortgages, stripped them of the opportunity to build wealth, and devalued properties in their neighborhoods," said Kristen Clarke, an assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, in a prepared statement.The DOJ alleged that between 2015 and 2019 the employees of Trident, which stopped writing mortgages in 2020, made racist comments about making loans to Black homebuyers, calling certain neighborhoods "ghettos." One manager of Trident was photographed posing in front of the Confederate Flag.

MILWAUKEE - Three men are now charged with shooting and wounding multiple people in one of three shootings downtown Milwaukee last week that injured 16 people.Marquise Jackson, 24, Christopher Murry, 23, and Lemont Siller, 21, were charged Wednesday, May 18 with felony conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and seven counts of first-degree reckless injury in connection to the shootings near Water and Juneau on Friday, May 13.Officers were investigating a prior shooting that happened at Water and Highland at around 10:30 pm when they heard dozens of gunshots from the area of Water and Juneau, about a block away, and hundreds of people running.Shooting incident at Water and Highland captured by surveillance camera.Officers saw a number of people firing guns and running from the area, and according to a criminal complaint, several of the bullets were fired in their direction.SIGN UP TODAY: Get daily headlines, breaking news emails from FOX6 NewsAccording to the criminal complaint, Jackson, Murry and Siller were together on Water Street when Siller told police he saw a 20-year-old man he has a long-standing dispute with.Marquise Jackson Court filings say surveillance video from the area shows the 20-year-old man and several other people were standing near the median on East Juneau, in front of an MSOE dormitory. Siller and Jackson are seen standing on the sidewalk with six others, on the north side of the street.Lemont Siller Siller, Jackson and the others in the group are seen making phone calls while looking in the direction of the 20-year-old man.
