Hundreds of LGBTG youth to be supported through new Planned Parenthood program in Lower Bucks County

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - It's an historic time in Bucks County as a recent announcement left LGBTQ youth with resources and support in a time of need. The Rainbow Room is a keystone Planned Parenthood youth program that provides a supportive environment for LGBTQ youth, ages 14-21. Originally only located in Doylestown, the program just announced its expansion into Lower Bucks County.Ry Ogden, a non-binary 18-year-old, says they love being a part of The Rainbow Room because they say it's a space that empowers them and lets them be their authentic self."I think it's very important for all queer youth everywhere to have a place where they can go and be themselves and not be judged in any way," said Ogden. For 17-year-old Carson Delany, The Rainbow Room has helped him overcome some of his fears after coming out and identifying as non-binary three years ago. 9-year-old boy pulled from Bucks County pond died from accidental drowning: officials

NEW BRITIAN, Pa. - Authorities pulled the body of a 9-year-old boy from waters of a Bucks County pond Monday night. Police in New Britain Township were called to a pond near the intersection of Vaux and Hickory roads around 6 p.m. for reports of a missing child. Officers immediately found the boy's bicycle with a fishing pole beside it, authorities said.

Wife of Hatboro officer who died from severe reaction to bee sting writing memoir about trauma, grief

HATBORO, Pa. - The wife of a former Hatboro K9 officer is readjusting to life after the passing of her husband, who suffered a severe reaction to a bee sting which resulted in a brain injury and a heart attack. Everything about the family's life changed in October 2021, when 35-year-old Ryan Allen was stung by a bee. His wife Whitney called 911 as Ryan tried to get some fresh air, but he lost consciousness on their porch after suffering from cardiac arrest. Ryan was first rushed to Doylestown Hospital before being flown to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. After being in the hospital for months, a procession full of his fellow officers led him from a rehabilitation center to his home for hospice care. A procession lead Hatboro K9 officer Ryan Allen from a rehab to hospice care months after he suffered complications from a reaction to a bee sting.Weeks later, Allen died, leaving behind his wife, their two sons, four-year-old Jackson and seven-month-old Leo and his K9 partner Louie. According to the Hatboro Police Department, Allen worked his way to K9 handler after joining the police force in 2013. He served as a patrol officer and a member of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force.

Perkasie plane crash: Victims identified after deadly incident

PERKASIE, Pa. - Officials have released the identities of the two men killed in when a single-engine plane crashed in a Perkasie neighborhood.The men were identified as 74-year-old Alfred George Piranian, of Chalfont, and 55-year-old Brian Fillippini, of Philadelphia. Both men died as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. It was revealed Friday that a report from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), the small plane with the two men aboard took off from Doylestown Airport with a destination of Gunden Airstrip. An NTSB investigator told reporters Thursday that the plane was a commercial instructional flight with one person onboard training for their commercial pilot's license. No one on the ground was hurt, but the crash sent flying debris through the wall of a home and into a second-floor bedroom. Hilltown Township Police Officer Christopher Englehart called the pilot a hero for managing to avoid homes that dotted the residential neighborhood. Residents recalled hearing the plane's engine cut out as it made its deadly descent.

PERKASIE, Pa. - The owner of a small, rarely used airstrip just south of where a single-engine plane crashed in a Perkasie neighborhood killing both aboard said he was not aware of the pilot's plan to land. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) continued to survey the crash site hours after a Beech 35-C33 plane crashed near the intersection of Victoria Lane and Brittany Lane around 5 p.m. Thursday. According to a report from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), the small plane with two aboard took off from Doylestown Airport with a destination of Gunden Airstrip. Gunden is a bumpy plot of land that happens to have an FAA-certified landing strip.

Fire breaks out at Ambler auto body shop, SEPTA service impacted

AMBLER, Pa. - Emergency crews responded to a fire at a business in Ambler Thursday morning. Flames broke out inside of an auto body shop on the unit block of Main Street around 10 a.m. FOX 29 crews arrived on the scene as smoke continued to pour from the building, particularly the open garage door. A short time later, flames could be seen coming from the windows on the second flood of the building - which is located near SEPTA's Ambler Station.SEPTA has suspended service between Fort Washington and Doylestown until further notice.

Weather Authority: Weekend rain to cool off unseasonably warm temperatures

PHILADELPHIA - Conditions will remain mild and dry overnight across the Delaware Valley before rain showers soak the region on Saturday and a cold front knocks down temperatures to much more seasonable levels.
