From Santiago to Santry: Quarantine residents check out

There was surprise, relief and delight among those leaving Mandatory Hotel Quarantine this evening at their unexpected early checkout.

It was announced this afternoon that the Mandatory Hotel Quarantine system would end immediately.

Jorde Barra from Santiago in Chile had spent seven days in the Holiday Inn Express in Santry before being told this afternoon that he was free to go.

The English language student was waiting outside the hotel to be picked up by his host family and said it was great news that he could now meet them earlier than planned.

"I was supposed to do 12 days so I'm feeling really great about leaving earlier. It's really great news," he said.
