New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for April stood at 177,100, down 3,900 from March.
The CSO said that 55% of people signing on the Live Register in April were men, while 45% were women. Of those on the Live Register last month, 9.7% are under 25 years of age, while 90.3% are 25 years of age and over.
The CSO noted that the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) scheme has now ended and final payments were issued for the week ending Friday March 25.
All PUP recipients have either transferred to a Jobseeker's scheme or had their PUP claim closed. The CSO said that a total of 436,056 people were on the Live Register or were benefitting from the PUP, the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme (TWSS) or the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) in March.
