The six-time Ballon d'Or winner stunned the world of football earlier this week by requesting an immediate exit from the club where he has spent his whole professional career.

He believes there is a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave for free, but things are threatening to turn nasty as Barcelona think the clause expired in June, and are insistent that any club who wants to sign him will have to pay his €700m release clause.
