Tameside now has the highest coronavirus infection rate in the region, replacing Rochdale. The borough recorded a rate of 121.0 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending March 16, according to the latest data from Public Health England.

The lowest infection rate is in Trafford, where the rate is 44.2 cases per 100,000 people. In the week ending March 16, there were 48 Covid-19 deaths recorded in the region, eight fewer than in the previous seven days.
