The average infection rate across the region is now 54.7 cases per 100,000 people. A total of 1,551 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the week ending on April 4, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

That's down by 41 per cent on the previous seven days. In the week ending April 4 there were 15 Covid-19 deaths recorded in the region, 17 fewer than in the previous seven days.
