The borough has overtaken Oldham as the worst-affected area in the region. Bolton recorded a rate of 85.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 1, according to the latest data from Public Health England.
But infection rates in nine of the 10 boroughs continue to fall steadily, with just Trafford seeing an increase in cases. The lowest infection rate is in Stockport, where the rate is 58.6 cases per 100,000 people.
