Pubs and other premises serving alcohol in Northern Ireland will have to take "last orders" by 10.30pm, with customers to leave by 11pm, according to new rules announced by First Minister Arlene Foster.
The regulations have just been announced by Ms Foster in the Northern Ireland Assembly and are designed "to protect you, to protect other people, to reduce the spread of infection", she said.
The measures will bring pubs into line with off-licences and supermarkets in Northern Ireland, which can sell alcoholic drinks until 11pm.
Ms Foster pointed out in the Assembly that pubs in England, Wales and Scotland have been told to shut by 10pm in recent days, under revised restrictions.
