Maryland bus stop proved there’s strength in numbers when they got together and swarmed a man who allegedly attempted to kidnap a child on Monday.The students from Redland Middle School in Gaithersburg, Md., reportedly witnessed 31-year-old Jamaal Germany attempt to abduct an unnamed minor from their bus stop shortly before 7:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Montgomery County Department of Police.

Read more: Startling video shows whale with deformed, bent spine swimming near Spain “The suspect allegedly grabbed the child and pulled them toward an apartment building,” police wrote. “Several students who were standing at the bus stop attempted to intervene and the victim was able to break free.”When the school bus arrived, all of the students boarded and subsequently reported the incident to a member of the school’s staff.Police later arrested Germany, who was charged with attempted kidnapping and second-degree assault.Fox 5 interviewed Germany’s parents who claimed he was having a “mental health crisis” at the time of the incident.

They said that the “system is failing” people like Germany who require medical assistance but have not been able to obtain services.Redland Middle School issued a letter to parents about the incident and said they asked for a police presence at the bus stop, as per NBC.

Reginald Maclaren was arrested and is facing a first-degree murder charge. He contacted the Englewood Police Department in Colorado to inform the agency that his wife and adult daughter were murdered. Maclaren told authorities he believed he knew the suspect and a hammer was used in the attack, according to a release from Englewood police. Officers arrived at the scene and found Maclaren inside the apartment. While in the home, police found two people in large trash cans on the floor of the living room/kitchen area.Police said both women had substantial injuries and had died. 1 man critically injured in Northeast Philadelphia double shooting, police say

PHILADELPHIA - Police say one man is critically injured after he was shot during a Northeast Philadelphia double shooting Tuesday night. Around 7 p.m., police responded to the 2800 block of Welsh Road.Responding officers say they located two men, one 32 and the other 43, who had both been shot in the abdomen.MORE HEADLINES Both victims were transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital.

Shooting in Southwest Philadelphia leaves 24-year-old man dead, police say

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on the streets of Southwest Philadelphia on Wednesday morning. According to authorities, the shooting took place on the 200 block of South Redfield Street just after 9:30 a.m. Officials say a 24-year-old man was shot once in the head and five times throughout his body. Police: Teen tried to snatch necklace, headphones from woman's neck in Chinatown

PHILADELPHIA - A woman was walking in Chinatown Monday morning when police say a teen tried to rob her from behind.The attempted robbery happened on the 1000 block of Vine Street around 11 a.m.Police say a teen suspect tried to pull a necklace and headphones from the neck of a 31-year-old woman.He was unsuccessful, but left the woman with scratches to her neck, according to authorities.MORE HEADLINES:The suspect fled the scene, and was last seen on 10th Street.
