LAWRENCE, Kan. - A father and his 12-year-old son are being hailed as heroes after authorities said they helped rescue a drowning, 4-year-old boy with autism from a pool. Authorities in Lawrence, Kansas said little boy, Xavier Rigney, briefly got out of his mother's sight and somehow made his way through a locked fence before jumping into the pool."His head goes completely under the water. POTTSTOWN, Pa. - A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead inside his car this weekend.Officials say 22-year-old Nahmer Baird suffered multiple gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide, according to an autopsy report.Baird was reportedly killed after an alleged shootout between the occupants of his Nissan Sentra and a Chrysler 300 at Locust Alley and West Street on Sunday.His car then crashed head-on into a Dodge pickup truck two blocks away, injuring its male driver.

COVID-19 health crisis as hospitalizations rose slightly Tuesday.There were 1,181 people hospitalized with the disease, an increase of four compared with the previous day. There were 47 admissions and 43 discharges.The number of pandemic-related cases in intensive care units stood at 32, a drop of one.The daily tally also included 513 new novel coronavirus cases based on PCR testing results.

Texas elementary school — even as parents outside begged police to rush in and panicked children called 911 from inside — has been placed with the school district’s homegrown police chief.It’s left residents in the small city of Uvalde struggling to reconcile what they know of the well-liked local lawman after the director of state police said that the commander at the scene — Pete Arredondo — made the “wrong decision” last week not to breach a classroom at Robb Elementary School sooner, believing the gunman was barricaded inside and children weren’t at risk.Steven McCraw, the head of the Texas Department of Public Safety, said at the Friday news conference that after following the gunman into the building, officers waited over an hour to breach the classroom. Nineteen children and two teachers were killed in the shooting.

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 711 new COVID cases, a sharp rise from 431 logged on Monday, a state health bulletin said. This is also the highest daily count in over 3 months.

PHILADELPHIA - A 70-year-old woman is answering the call to keep her city safe - in more ways than one!Robin Borlando, a life-long Philadelphia resident, was 16 years old when she first became a lifeguard.
