Kate Garraway has shared a heartbreaking update on her husband Derek Draper’s ongoing health issues, stating he is still suffering ‘damage’ from being struck down by Covid. Former political lobbyist Derek, 55, tested positive for Covid in March 2020 and was placed in an induced coma to help fight off the virus.
He was eventually declared Covid-free and emerged from the coma, but has fought one of the most severe cases of long Covid in the country with his body wrecked from the effects of the infectious disease.
In 2021, Derek was released from hospital and returned to the home he shares with Kate, 55, and their two children, Darcey, 17, and Billie, 13, but has required round-the-clock care.
Last year, he returned to hospital several times due to various health issues. Sharing an update on Derek’s ongoing recovery, the Good Morning Britain presenter said: ‘It is challenging, he’s still very, very damaged.
