KATE Garraway has revealed the heartbreaking conversations she has with her husband Derek since Covid made him struggle to communicate.

The Good Morning Britain presenter admits her other half is still unable to speak, but they still have a "deep connection" and have found a "new way" to love each other.

Asked whether they can have conversations, Kate tells You: "Not really. It’s hard. I watch him microscopically; I feel like I read every flicker so I “get” him, but you wouldn’t walk into the room and think a conversation was being had. "But he understands an enormous amount, he just can’t respond.’ She continued: "I don’t think things will ever be the same again, because I don’t think we as a family and he as a human being could go through something like that and not be impacted by it. "Months in a coma and then this.

It’s going to change him, even if it’s only emotionally. We’ve all been through so much. I’m not the same." The 54-year-old’s relationship with the former political lobbyist changed forever when he fell ill with Covid and became the country’s worst affected victim of the virus.
