K-pop star Kim Jaejoong could face punishment for pretending he had contracted coronavirus. The JYJ member posted on Instagram on April Fool’s Day that he had been hospitalised with Covid-19.
He later edited his caption on Instagram to say he did not have the deadly virus and only said he did to raise awareness. Under South Korean law, charges can be brought against anyone found to be ‘deceiving or deluding’ government officials, and those found guilty can face up to 5 years in prison or a 10 million won (£6500) fine.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) told Reuters that it was ‘not considering’ punishment for Jaejoong.
